NEWS: Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta says that an electric motorcycle class could support MotoGP from as early as 2019. The plan is to have a one make series with the bikes capable of a top speed of approximately 124mph.
Who will make the bikes is yet to be disclosed and nor has how the bikes will be branded. A great idea would be to follow that of Formula E, a company (like Dallara in Formula E) makes the bikes and ‘brands’ put their names on them.
The electric motorcycles will compete in five support races on the MotoGP calendar and be capable of 10 laps.
Let’s hope it gets more support that the TT Zero (12 entries) and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb (3 entries).
